A small shrub growing 3-4' but with the potential to grow larger depending on site location and the zone in which it is grown. Form is multistemmed and vase shaped with a rounded crown. Leaves are 2-3" long and 1¼ to 1¾" wide, glabrous and evergreen. Leaves first emerge bronze to purple, eventually turning dark green and finally bronze-purple-green in winter. Occasionally leaves will appear in a whorled fashion (3 to a node). Flowers in late May to early June are small, greenish-white and displayed in an open inflorescence. Fruit is less than a ¼" and steel blue. Tolerates partial shade. Native to the Himalayas. Zone 7
