Raised as a seedling by P.D. Williams of Lanarth, Cornwall before 1930. A very fine form similar to V. plicatum f. tomentosum 'Mariesii' but somewhat larger and with larger ray (sterile) flowers. Branches are produced in tiered layers but not quite as horizontal as 'Mariesii'. Blooms late spring with showy heads of creamy-white fertile flowers surrounded by large ray florets up to 2" like a lacecap hydrangea. Fruit and fall color are red. A very beautiful selection. Zone 5
