A low sprawling shrub 4-6' tall and 3-4' wide. Grows well in dry, acid, woodland conditions. Leaves are 3 lobed, however, juvenile foliage may not always have side lobes. Flowers are pale purple in the bud, opoening to yellowish-white in May. Fruit is bright red then changing to purplish-black. Pastel fall colors of creamy-pink, rose, and red, to grape juice purple.
